Install guide
A Code block, set to HTML. The editor shows a placeholder; the live page shows the widget.
5 steps · the Code block
Copy the line from your dashboard
In HockeyOS, open Website & embeds → Embed Studio. Pick the team and the widget, set how it should look, and press Copy. That one line is the whole install.
Edit the page
Open the team page and click Edit. Hover where the widget should go and click the plus that appears to add a block.
Choose a Code block
Pick Code from the block menu. Make sure it is set to HTML, not Markdown, and that Display Source is off.
Paste the line
Paste into the block and click away. In the editor the block shows a grey placeholder; that is normal.
Save and look at the live page
Press Save, then open the page as a visitor would. The widget is there, in your colours, and updates on its own.
Where it looks best
Strip under the banner, roster in a one-column section.
A Code block in a thin section directly under the page banner is the natural home for the results strip. The roster and schedule want a full-width section of their own. Narrow sections with two or three columns suit the record, next game and top scorers widgets.
Worth knowing on Squarespace
- Squarespace only runs scripts and iframes inside a Code block on its Business plan and up. On a Personal plan the block shows the pasted text instead of the widget.
- The editor never renders a Code block; it shows a placeholder. Save and view the live page to see the widget.
Squarespace questions.
The block just shows a grey box in the editor. Is something wrong?
No. Squarespace shows every Code block as a placeholder while editing. Save and view the live page.
I see the code as text on the live page.
Your site is on the Personal plan, which does not run scripts or iframes in Code blocks. Business and above do.
Can I use Code Injection instead?
The widget belongs in a Code block on the page where it should appear. Code Injection is for the whole site and is not needed.
