Install guide
A Custom HTML block in the block editor. No plugin needed, and nothing to configure.
5 steps · the Custom HTML block
Copy the line from your dashboard
In HockeyOS, open Website & embeds → Embed Studio. Pick the team and the widget, set how it should look, and press Copy. That one line is the whole install.
Open the page in WordPress
Go to Pages, find the team page, and click Edit. The block editor opens with the page as it is now.
Add a Custom HTML block
Click the plus where the widget should go and search for Custom HTML. It is a built-in block, so it is already there.
Paste the line
Click into the block and paste. Switch the block to Preview and the widget appears, in your colours, with your team's data.
Update the page
Press Update. That is the install. The widget sizes itself and updates on its own from here on.
Where it looks best
Results strip up top, roster in the column.
Put the results strip in a full-width block just under the page title. The roster and schedule go in the main column. The narrow widgets — record, next game, top scorers — fit a Custom HTML widget in your theme's sidebar, under Appearance → Widgets.
Worth knowing on WordPress
- Still on the classic editor? Switch the editor from Visual to Text (sometimes labelled Code) before you paste, or WordPress will turn the line into plain words.
- If the line disappears when you save, your account does not have permission to post raw HTML. An Administrator or Editor on the site can paste it.
- A small optional plugin exists for clubs with widgets on many pages. Most clubs do not need it — the block alone is enough.
WordPress questions.
Do I need a plugin?
No. A Custom HTML block is built into WordPress and is all the widget needs.
Can I put a widget in the sidebar?
Yes. Appearance → Widgets has a Custom HTML widget. Paste the same way. The sidebar widgets — record, next game, top scorers, standings — are made for that width.
What about a page builder like Elementor or Divi?
Each has its own HTML or Code element. Drop one in and paste the line the same way. The widget does not care which editor placed it.
